Hi..I'm from New Jersey. My band is playing a show locally. on Saturday. On the venue's website, (http://www.courttavern.net/schedule.html) they claim Syd Barrett is playing with us that night. My first inclination was to think it was a local band that named themselves after Syd. However, we have been given the distinct impression, from sources we are inclined to believe, that it really is him. Although I'm not a huge Floyd fan, and I'm virtually clueless when it comes to Syd Barrett era Floyd, I am well aware of who he is. To the best of my knowledge, and according to the general internet concensus, Syd is quite reclusive and is no longer inolved with making or performing music.
I guess my question is....what are the chances that the person listed on the bill is actually the real Syd Barrett? And futhermore, what are the chances he'd play a show in a little college bar in New Jersey with a couple of local bands? And finally, wouldn't this show be huge news in the Syd Barrett fan community?
Any insight, however trivial, would go a long way to quench our curiosity.
